Being able to update Windows on your computer is critical to not just make sure that you have the latest features, but more importantly to make sure you've got the latest security patches. If you're running into issues with the Windows Update tool on your computer, the first thing you should do to try and resolve it is to run the Windows Update troubleshooter. The Windows Update troubleshooter resolves most detected issues immediately, and will make you aware of issues that require your action.
Now let's walk through the steps to run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
Step 1. Navigate to your Windows 11 home screen, and then press the "Windows" and "I" keys at the same time. The Windows Settings screen will be displayed.
Step 2. Make sure "System" is selected in the menu on the left side of the screen. System options are shown on the right side of the screen.
Step 3. Scroll down this screen and then click "Troubleshoot." The Troubleshoot screen is displayed.
Step 4. Click "Other Troubleshooters." The Other Troubleshooters screen is shown.
Step 5. Find Windows Update on this screen, and then click "Run" next to Windows Update. The Windows Update window pops up on the screen, and it will immediately start looking for issues with the Windows Update tool. At the end of this process you'll see a list of any problems detected.
Step 6. Click "Close" and try running the Windows Update process again to see if your problem is resolved.
