By default, your Amazon Alexa devices are set up to give you personalized recommendations based on your shopping activity. These recommendations come in the form of deal and reorder recommendations. Thankfully, if you don't like the idea of your Amazon Alexa speakers randomly prompting you to buy items, Amazon makes it easy to turn that feature off.
Now let's walk through the steps to stop your Amazon Alexa devices from asking you to buy stuff.
Step 1. Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You'll land on your Alexa home screen.
Step 2. Tap the "More" icon in the menu along the bottom of the screen. A menu is displayed.
Step 3. Tap "Settings" in this menu. The Settings menu is shown.
Step 4. Tap "Notifications" in this menu. You'll land on the Notifications screen.
Step 5. Tap "Amazon Shopping" in this list. The Amazon Shopping menu is displayed.
Step 6. Scroll down this screen until you get to the Shopping Recommendations section. This is where you'll see options for how you receive personalized recommendations based on your shopping activity. Specifically, you'll see options to receive recommendations for deal recommendations and reorder recommendations.
Step 7. If you don't want to receive these recommendations from your Amazon Alexa device, which will stop Amazon from asking you to buy stuff, tap to turn off the toggle associated with the options in this section. Going forward you'll no longer receive prompts from Amazon on your Alexa devices to buy things.
