π Need to share your internet connection with other devices? Windows 11 allows you to turn your laptop or desktop into a mobile hotspot, letting other devices connect to the internet through your PC. Hereβs how to enable and configure it:
Steps to Set Up Mobile Hotspot in Windows 11 on Laptop or Desktop PC:
Open Settings
Click on the Start menu and select Settings, or press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Go to Network & Internet
In the Settings menu, select Network & Internet from the left sidebar.
Select Mobile Hotspot
Scroll down and select Mobile Hotspot in the Network & Internet menu.
Turn On Mobile Hotspot
Toggle the Mobile Hotspot switch to On to activate the feature.
Configure Mobile Hotspot Settings
Share my Internet connection from: Choose whether you want to share your connection from Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Network name and password: Click Edit to change the network name and password for your mobile hotspot.
Network band: If available, select the preferred network band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) for your hotspot. The 2.4 GHz band has a wider range, while the 5 GHz band may offer faster speeds over shorter distances.
Connect Devices to Your Hotspot
On the other device, search for Wi-Fi networks and select your mobile hotspotβs network name.
Enter the password you set up to connect.
Monitor Connected Devices
In the Mobile Hotspot settings, you can view how many devices are connected to your hotspot.
Tips:
Battery Usage: Using your PC as a mobile hotspot may drain the battery quickly, so keep it plugged in if possible.
Data Usage: If youβre on a limited data plan, keep an eye on your usage to avoid extra charges.
