How to SWITCH to GAME CHAT on XBOX Party Settings (Best Method)
1When you're in an Xbox party but want to switch to game chat to talk to other players in your game, it's a simple process. The best method is to use the dedicated option within the Guide, as it's quick and easy to switch back and forth.
The Best Method: Using the Party & chats Tab in the Guide
Open the Guide: Press the Xbox button on your controller.
Navigate to the 'Parties & chats' tab: Use the left stick or D-pad to move to the 'Parties & chats' tab (the icon with two speech bubbles).
Select your party: Your active party will be at the top of the list. Highlight it and press A.
Switch to game chat: Within the party menu, you will see an option to 'Switch to game chat'. This is often represented by a button with two squares or is located in the party options. Select this option.
Once you switch, you will no longer be heard by your party and will instead be communicating through the in-game voice chat. Your party members will see a notification that you have switched to game chat.
To switch back to party chat:
Simply follow the same steps. When you go back to the party menu, the option will now say 'Switch to party chat'.
