Want to test your computer's RAM for Problems or Errors? Don't know which RAM module is failing? I will show you can do PC Troubleshooting and Fix Ram Problem & Blue Screen Error on PC.
We will be using MemTest86 from Passmark
https://www.memtest86.com/
Things to try to resolve bad memory:
1. Replace the Bad RAM modules (Memory stick)
2. Try setting RAM timings to default settings in BIOS and try and disable XMP
3. Try and Increase the voltage levels of the Memory. Example: 1.2 volts to 1.25 volts. Why, sometimes memory likes to have a little more memory. You can also try and run memory on stock memory settings or set it to auto.
4. Try and flash BIOS update to fix any incompatibility issues, sometimes there can be a issue with new hardware and motherboard manufacturers release BIOS update to fix and resolve these issues.
5. Flag any bad address ranges, this is not a ideal solution, but it can be done. I will replace memory module instead.
If the memory is very bad, memtest86 can detect these errors very quickly, within the first pass. For intermittent errors, I would run multiple passes to detect these errors.
1. Quick test. Test until 100% coverage is complete (one pass) will detect very bad memory.
2. Run test for 1 hour to 2 hours, this can find a lot of memory errors except intermittent errors
3. Test overnight, this is recommended and will detect all errors. Make sure you run at least 4 passes.
