The biggest disadvantage of a technologically connected society is that our attention is everywhere. Social media, messaging, texting, and all manner of distractions pull for our attention. Being able to control our attention is one of the most important principles of self development. Luckily, concentration can be trained. You can work concentration like you can any muscle, and the mind can get better at it. In most people's current states, their mental focus is poor. Often the inability to get done what you want is just because you don't know how to concentrate. This is a key factor in procrastination. It's easier to procrastinate than to focus if we don't train our minds to concentrate on the right things.
