Here's how to turn off Voice Assistants on different devices:
On Android phones or tablets:
Open the Google app (it usually has a white "G" icon on a blue background).
Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
Select "Settings."
Find and open the "Google Assistant" option.
Under "All settings," tap "General."
Turn off the "Google Assistant" switch.
On Chromebooks:
Click the time in the lower-right corner.
Select the "Settings" gear icon.
Go to the "Search and Assistant" tab.
Click "Google Assistant."
Toggle the "On" switch to "Off."
On other devices:
Google Home speakers: Look for a mute button on the device itself.
Smart displays: Swipe down from the top of the screen to access settings and find the option to turn off Google Assistant.
Android Auto: Open the Android Auto app on your phone, go to Settings, and disable Google Assistant.
Wear OS watches: Open the Settings app on your watch, go to "Personalization," and then "Google Assistant." You can disable it there.
Additional tips:
If you only want to disable the "Hey Google" wake word: You can do this in the Assistant settings without fully turning off the Assistant.
To temporarily stop Google Assistant from listening: You can say "Stop" or "Cancel" to it.
Keep in mind:
Disabling Google Assistant will limit some features on your device, such as hands-free voice commands and some smart home integrations.
You can always turn Google Assistant back on if you change your mind.
