How to Upgrade a Hard Drive in a Hardmodded Original Xbox | Xbox TSOP/Modchip HDD Upgrade Tutorial
895This tutorial is designed for hardmodded Xbox users and aims to show you 2 different methods of upgrading your hard drive. If you want to keep your existing configuration while also increasing your storage, the first method will be best for you as it involves cloning your current drive to a new drive using Chimp 261812. The second method is much easier and faster but does not retain or transfer any of your data. This second method simply involves installing a new hard drive in place of your old one and booting up your console with a installation disc in the DVD drive. The disc being used for this tutorial is HeXEn 2018.
Keep in mind the cloning method will require several different pieces of hardware and software, and it does require a "hotswap" meaning you will have to disconnect your DVD drive and connect it to your new hard drive while the console is running. If done properly, everything will be successful, but keep in mind there is a risk of causing physical damage to your hardware if done improperly! This tutorial assumes you are aware of the risks and are willing to proceed.
If you have a softmodded Xbox, do NOT follow this tutorial! Softmodded Xboxes require a slightly different process which is fully detailed in this tutorial.
