How to Use Gamemodes on a Minecraft Server
There are multiple gamemodes to choose from for your Minecraft server and you can switch between them at any time. This video explains each of the gamemodes available and how to switch between them.
There are four gamemodes available:
Survival - The default gamemode where players collect resources, explore and survive.
Creative - Players have access to an infinite inventory of every block, can fly and take no damage.
Adventure - Similar to Survival mode, however in Adventure mode players cannot break most blocks. This is used for adventure maps and many servers where block breaking/building is not allowed.
Spectator - The player is invisible, always flying and can move through blocks (essentially camera mode).
Hardcore is a variant of survival mode. In this mode, players only have a single life and will not respawn upon death. In a multiplayer Minecraft server, a player who dies in hardcore mode will be banned from the server. In singleplayer, the game save will be deleted. Hardcore mode is technically not a gamemode and cannot be enabled via command - it is enabled in the server.properties file.
