This is an archaeological themed episode, but the twist... is that the archaeologist leading the expedition dies in the opener, and now people have to figure out what to do about it.

the idea of dead civilizations is a common one in Star Trek and this one could be a lot of fun to play with... I'd probably not use the orphan angle though. It added a lot of pathos to the episode, but do you want that flavor of pathos in your TTRPG?? maybe, maybe not.
