Howto build virtualization home lab #2 Thermalright 140BW cooler install on Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5
Step-by-step: how to install the Thermalright 140BW cooler on the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 motherboard. The Thermalright 140BW heat sink and cooler has lots of bits and pieces to it. This is why the cooler installation is a bit tricky, so it deserves its own video.
The Thermalright 140BW has probably the best price/performance ratio when it comes to CPU coolers, and it does an awesome job keeping my AMD FX8350 cool, while it barely generates any noise.
WARNING!!!: Most probably you will need to modify the small black plastic square delivered with the Thermalright 140BW if you are using it on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5. This is because the capacitors below the CPU socket would otherwise be crushed by the mechanical force during the heat sink installation. In the video the mod is clearly described.
This video is the second in this series where the virtualization host is being put together. I go over all components and installation steps in detail, so if someone would like to build the same machine, it should be easier to follow. For the first part see:
