HUNTING WITH THE BOY | God Of War Playthrough - Part 1
6Hey everybody! Welcome to my God Of War playthrough, Kratos looks like he has aged as we open with him chopping down a tree. Shortly after it falls we get to see his son Atreus for the first time. Kratos grabs the fallen tree like the manly man he is and together they go to a boat. It seems the tree was for a cremation of the woman who is Atreus' mother. Kratos looks how you would expect, not showing too much emotion is what normally would be a very sad time. He decides it is time to go hunting with the boy as he calls him and has Atreus grab his bow. We head out and while Atreus tracks the deer I track the loot. Going every way I can to find treasure and other goodies. Kratos is impressed with Atreus' knowledge when he identifies the different types of tracks of animals we spot. Eventually the deer shows itself and Kratos is acting more like a wise mentor then what we would normally expect from him and I love it. The second encounter with the deer doesn't go as well when Atreus excitedly fires at the deer and scares it off which does not sit well with Kratos. Along the way we end up fighting out first type of enemy from Norse mythology, draugr! When we finally get close enough to the deer Atreus is able to get the shot and we have a moment between them where Kratos wants him to finish what he started but he says he can't. Things don't last long though as a giant troll appears and grabs the deer and throws Atreus. Kratos has seen bigger and is not afraid jumping right into it. I make a few mistakes while trying to master the combat style of the game but eventually get it all worked out and drop the troll. When it is over Atreus runs in screaming and stabbing the dead troll. It seems he has some of Kratos' rage but cannot control it well. Kratos grabs him to what seemed like calm him down but instead he says "you are not ready" which does not sit well with Atreus. The interaction between the two is interesting. Kratos is a badass and cool as can be but I kinda feel bad for the kid because I can't say he makes the best dad material sometimes!
His vengeance against the gods of Olympus far behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the lands of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive… and teach his son to do the same. As mentor and protector to a son determined to earn his respect, Kratos is faced with an unexpected opportunity to master the rage that has long defined him. Questioning the dark lineage he’s passed on to his son, he hopes to make amends for the shortcomings of his past. Set within the untamed forests, mountains, and realms of Norse lore, God of War features a distinctly new setting with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods.
