Hyper Void - Now With Trippy VR Mode!
0I played this demo on the PS3 a while back, so when I found out that they were adding a VR mode, I decided to jump in. I'm a big fan of shooters of this kind, and this follows in the best traditions of the likes of Silpheed.
On top of that, it adds in the variable playfield geometry like in TxK (though nowhere NEAR as insanely difficult) to keep things fresh.
VR mode makes it a little more immersive and moves the HUD elements to indicators on your craft. It's a pretty good adaptation, and a later level that throws a comet at a planet's surface has that much more.... errr.... impact. I also found it easier to avoid enemy attacks from the VR perspective. Maybe because I had a better sense of depth perception?
I complain a lot about early adopter fleecing on PSVR, but at $10, this is just about right. If anything, it's got more gameplay and replay than games 3-6x as expensive. Definitely recommended if you're a fan of '2-D' shooters.
