There are three different timelines, which Link, Impa, and Lana enter different ones, while Sheik decided to go with Impa. We start with the era of the Hero of Time, and the first area is Death Mountain, home to the Gorons. We hear shocking news that the Gorons and their chief Darunia have started acting hostile, and the Zora Princess Ruto is held captive. Impa and Sheik have to get through the Gorons, save Ruto, and find out why Darunia, who is normally kind, is attacking the Hylian forces.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Cia has created three portals that lead to different eras, and the first area is Death Mountain in the era of the Hero of Time, so this is Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time, and this is where Impa and Sheik have entered. They encounter a fairy, who tells them about Darunia and the Gorons, who have captured Ruto, and that the normally gentle Darunia has turned hostile for some strange reason, and by the way, the fairy that appears in this scenario is Navi from Ocarina of Time, in the Wii U localization of Hyrule Warriors, it says "Navi" instead of "Fairy".
As this scenario recommends a Water element weapon, you can choose to play as either Impa or Sheik, I highly recommend Impa for this one, as you will be fighting a large number of Gorons, and the Goron Captains have an elemental weakness to Water. If you gave Impa some combo badges, you can perform more combos with her, her C5, which is where she sends water knives raining down on enemies, is a good move, so this is really good when using Impa. Sheik will have a tough time against the Gorons.
Your top priority is to capture both the West and East Boulder Keeps, so take either West or East Keep, and then capture the keeps to stop the boulder attack, as that will do damage to the Allied Keep, and if the Gorons recapture the boulder keeps, you have to retake them, because if the Gorons control the boulder keeps, the boulder attack will continue.
Once that is out of the way, Darunia will appear, and he is much tougher than the Goron Captains, as he is a commander, and the Goron Captains, no guesses required, are captains. Like the Gorons, Darunia has an elemental weakness to Water, so Impa's Giant Blade should make quick work of Darunia, while Sheik will have a very challenging fight.
Once you defeat Darunia, he will withdraw from the battlefield, so you will have to try and stop the Keep Saboteurs from taking your keeps, specially the Boulder Keeps.
Darunia will have fully recovered around then and will start heading to one of the Boulder Keeps, likely the West Boulder Keep, you can choose to either defeat Darunia again, or help Sheik get to West Boulder Keep, but don't let the enemy forces take West Boulder Keep.
Once Sheik arrives at West Boulder Keep, or if you are playing as Sheik, you have to help Impa get to West Boulder Keep, and they will launch an attack at the Chief's Room, resulting in Darunia sending his Goron army to attack, and some Gorons will have Bomchus ready, you can defeat the Bombchu Operators to take control of the Bombchus to get in some damage on the enemy bases. One thing is that I like the song that plays around this point in the scenario, it is one of my favourite songs in Hyrule Warriors.
When you arrive at the enemy base, you will notice that two Big Poes are the ones responsible for Darunia's hostile nature, and that they are mind controlling him and the Gorons. As Big Poes are weak to Water element weapons, this is once again Impa's fight, and once the Big Poes are out of the way, Darunia's power decreases, allowing you to easily defeat him and complete the scenario.
After completing this scenario, you would unlock Darunia in the base game for Hyrule Warriors, and even though Ruto does appear at the end, you don't unlock Ruto in Legend Mode, but since this is the Definitive Edition, all characters from the base game are unlocked right from the start.
Now for collectables, and this is a scenario you have to play twice, Impa has to capture East Goron Keep to get her Heart Piece, while you have to play as Sheik to get the Heart Container, you have to bomb a boulder on the southern part of East Boulder Keep, and in East Boulder Keep, you can get a Sealed Weapon, which will be the Biggoron's Knife, which is the Level 2 weapon for Impa's Giant Blade. In case you are wondering about the Gold Skulltula, you need an item that allows you to access higher ledges, and since we don't have that item yet, this one we have to backtrack to once we have that item.
