Here is the start of the Skyward Sword scenario, and this one recommends Light element weapons, so using Link's Sword is your best shot for this.
Skyloft will be swarming with monsters, which are led by Ghirahim and Volga, so there will be a lot of Aeralfos and Moblins, the Moblins are new enemies to this scenario, they are very tough to take down, but they do have an elemental weakness to Fire.
The first place to access is the Goddess Statue, where the Sword Spirit known as Fi is waiting. We must deliver the Pumpkin Soup to Levias so that we can continue further, as Levias can connect pathways across Skyloft. You must escort Fi to where the pathway is, but you can also have Link stop some enemies from getting to the Allied Base.
Once you have successfully escorted Fi, Levias will connect the path by pushing a small island, making a bridge so that we can continue further, after that, Ghirahim will start going for the Allied Base along with his army of monsters. As Link's Sword is a Light element weapon, he will have the elemental advantage against Ghirahim, he shouldn't be that difficult to take down.
With Ghirahim out of the way, the next objective is to escort Fi to the west cliff, so you will need to capture both West Town Keep and Academy Keep, so that way Fi can safely deliver the Pumpkin Soup to Levias, and we can cross another pathway.
Now that we can get to the enemy base, Volga will send both the Lizalfos and Dinolfos Chieftain, so it looks like we have to stop Volga's henchmen before he can enter the fight. Volga will begin to advance to the Allied Base, so it is time to stop him, once Volga is down to low health, his power level will go beyond 9000, so in this case, Volga can easily overpower you, and Fi will head to the Fairy Fountain, have Link take down some enemies along the way. You can also defeat the Aeralfos if you want to, but you will also fight some Aeralfos at the Fairy Fountain entrance, so defeating the Aeralfos will give you access to the Fairy Fountain, and use the Magic Circle.
Levias will gain a lot of power, which will weaken Volga to the point in which you can fight him, so the fight will be a little easier than before, so that way you can defeat Volga and complete the scenario, however, Ghirahim does have some secret plans up ahead.
With the scenario complete, you would unlock Fi in the base game, and for collectables, the Gold Skulltula is located underneath a boulder southwest of the Goddess Statue, so you will need a bomb for this. The Piece of Heart is at North Rockface Keep, while the Heart Container is obtained by blowing up a boulder southeast of Academy Keep, and it is close to the bridge, both of which have to be obtained by Link, as he is the only character you can play as in this scenario.
