Next up on Surprise Trades for this weekend is the Water-type starter in Galar, it is Sobble, the Water Lizard Pokémon. As the starter Pokémon are more as a test to start out the Surprise Trades, I will be doing different Pokémon either at random, but I might focus on some of my favourites for the next few ones. What I will do is randomize a list of all the available Pokémon in Sword & Shield, and the one at the very top will be the one I will do next, but there might be some times where I might Surprise Trade a Pokémon of my choice.
As for breeding, I aim for 4 to 5 perfect IVs, or Individual Values, and Egg Moves, so these Sobble know Aqua Jet, Aqua Ring, Haze, and Mist. It can also get Double Team, Ice Shard, and Fell Stinger as Egg Moves, but Sobble doesn't have that great of Egg Moves. All of them have a Timid Nature, while it may be fitting for Sobble, this is because Sobble's best stats are Speed and Special Attack, so it will benefit from Timid, although Modest can work as well.
Next up is the info, Sobble doesn't get too many Special moves through level up, the only one noteworthy is Water Pulse, it can learn Tearful Look, U-turn, Sucker Punch, Soak, and Liquidation, not the best for a Special Attacker, but Sobble is reliant on TMs and TRs to get its good moves.
At Level 16, Sobble will evolve into Drizzile, but you can hold off Sobble's evolution in order to learn Tearful Look at Level 17, which might be better than Growl, while Drizzile does not learn it until Level 19, U-turn is a good move to have, as the Sobble line have good Speed, despite being a Physical attack. Drizzile will evolve into Inteleon at Level 35, and once it evolves, it will learn its signature move Snipe Shot, this is an 80 power Special Water-type move that ignores moves and Abilities that draw in moves, like Follow Me or Storm Drain, and it has a high critical hit rate. With a good Speed stat, Inteleon can make a good Special sweeper, but its defenses aren't too great. These Sobble do not have their Hidden Ability, as it is not yet released at the time, and its Hidden Ability is Sniper, unfortunately the Sobble line do not get many moves with a high critical hit rate, aside from Snipe Shot, so even if Sniper does get released, Torrent might end up being the best Ability for Inteleon.
It does have a nice TM and TR movepool, for TMs, it can learn Reflect, Light Screen, Swift, Icy Wind, Mud Shot, Weather Ball, and Air Slash, while for TRs, it can get Surf, Scald, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Dark Pulse, Muddy Water, and a few others. Even though it is a fully evolved Water-type starter, Inteleon does have the Special Attack stat to make use of Hydro Cannon, but you are better off using Hydro Pump, Surf, or Scald on it.
Unfortunately for Inteleon, its Snipe Shot isn't best suited for Single Battles, Surf and Hydro Pump are better options, and for its Special movepool, Ice Beam is needed for type coverage, a choice of either Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball, Air Slash can be nice for Max Airstream, and U-turn is good on a speedy Pokémon like Inteleon. If you are doing Double Battles, Snipe Shot is a must have for Inteleon, say your opponent has Gastrodon and Rhyperior, and the Gastrodon has Storm Drain, if you use Snipe Shot on Rhyperior, it will ignore Gastrodon's Storm Drain and hit Rhyperior, so I find that Inteleon is better in Double Battles than in Single Battles. Blizzard is good if you have Hail support from Vanilluxe or Abomasnow, so Inteleon's moveset depends on what Pokémon you have on your team, because when you are doing Double Battles, it's all about what strategy you have with different Pokémon.
While the boosted damage from a critical hit with Sniper can be nice, the only thing I can think of once its Hidden Ability is released is equipping Inteleon with a Scope Lens and teaching it Focus Energy, so that way it can score a ton of critical hits with Snipe Shot, even though it has a good Speed and Special Attack stat, I feel that Inteleon shines more in Double Battles due to its signature move.
