Our journey on Delfino Isle continues in Super Mario Sunshine for the Nintendo Switch! Now that we've acquired our water blasting buddy in F.L.U.D.D as well as an incredibly harsh sentence for a crime we did NOT commit, it's time to continue putting our new skills to work. Now that we've explored Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor and Gelato Beach, we need to take down Shadow Mario and gain at least 7 shines per level! Doing so will let us progress in our story (and hopefully our vacation). Not only is there Shadow Mario, but there's also this scrawny FREAK Il Pantisimo, the Sand Bird, some fish in the coral... lots to do. I literally just wanted a break in the sun.
Originally on the Nintendo GameCube, Super Mario Sunshine may be, in my humblest of opinions, peak 3D Mario gaming - although, this game definitely has mixed reviews. I personally love how wacky and weird this game can be - fully rendered cutscenes with accompanying voice acting, incredibly bright and well-engineered levels, great movement techniques, and the use of F.L.U.D.D. make this a classic for the GameCube, and with the release of the Mario 3D Anniversary bundle, experiencing this through the lush Nintendo Switch graphics only serves this game further. I do wish Mario, Peach, and the old Toad fella revisited the Piantas on Delfino Island again to collect the Shine Sprites in a direct sequel, but it might be a little late for that. Who knows, maybe one day!
In this video, we're looking to continue our collection of shines via Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor and Gelato Beach. Namely, we'll be grabbing one shine from Bianco Hills in Episode 7 (Shadow Mario on the Loose), then move onto Ricco Harbor. We've got a few more shines to get here, specifically in Episode 4 (The Secret of Ricco Tower), Episode 5 (Gooper Blooper Returns), Episode 6 (Red Coins on the Water) and Episode 7 (Shadow Mario Revisited). Finally, we venture back to Gelato Beach to acquire the final few Shine Sprites besides Episode 8; including Episode 4 (The Sand Bird is Born), Episode 5 (Il Pantisimo's Sand Spirit), Episode 6 (Red Coins on the Coral Reef) and Episode 7 (It's Shadow Mario! After Him!). So many Shadow Mario fights, but that is the key to exploring new worlds, so we need to take that little freak down. As always, lots of progress to make, and lots of paint to clean. This is NOT gonna be an easy job. Let's see how today's episode goes!
