First I randomized a Pokemon Emerald rom with my desired settings to improve Pokemon distribution, buff enemy trainers, enable Double Battles, and speed the text up (though this unfortunately gave tons of Pokemon coverage moves I wish they didn't). Then I renamed Rock to Earth and Ground to Fairy and turned all Rock and Ground moves into Earth-Type Moves. And then I changed Magnitude and Mud-Slap, two relatively unused Ground-type moves, into Fairy Fist and Moonblast, two Fairy-type moves for the Fairy-Types to use. I could have gotten away with one. This is Gen 3, the Physical Special split isn't a thing yet and I didn't feel like adding the patch for that. Then I edited all the Ground and Rock/Ground and Ground/Whatever Pokemon to be Rock-Type and edited the Fairy Pokemon to have the Fairy Type. After that, I tested the game to test my new Pokemon fangame's Type chart. So far, testing is going great. I also edited the HM moves to not suck, because if the game is going to force them onto your team, they shouldn't suck. A randomized Ditto with Barrier and some garbage moves (I Pokehex'd him to have Transform) gave me the idea to give Ditto in my game the option to be more than the Impostor Transform guy. Ditto should learn Barrier, Light Screen, Transform, Sketch, and other useful moves. And when I couldn't decide between putting a Pikachu or Dugtrio or Nosepass in my game, I decided to buff Nosepass into an Electric-Earth type and put him in my team. I wish the Randomizer had an option to remove levels and carry over my game's base stat edits, random crit/miss/damage variability removal, move edits, ability edits, and Same Type Attack Bonus code edits. Pokemon doesn't let you reduce the level of your Pokemon to match enemy trainers weaker than the enemy trainer you just fought, which is stupid. Surely some sort of new Key Item could "Extract a Pokemon's energy" and donate it to a company that pays you per level lost, and Poke Marts could sell EXP Candies and interesting Pokemon. I wish this randomizer used Python instead of Javascript. Then I'd know how to edit it to add an option to update Pokemon stats to "generation 69" aka my in-progress game's Pokemon stats. Full video of this playthrough coming eventually, maybe.
