go watch the spazkid animation of this song if you haven't, that's what the pixel art here is based on, and that video is still fantastic.
i think that the easiest way to tell when i genuinely love a song is when i actually bother to cover the whole thing (that isn't to say that i don't love the other songs i've done, but that it takes more effort to put together the whole thing, y'know?), and i think that such has only happened a few times in the time i've been upkeeping this channel. this one, ttfaf, snake eater (i went back and checked that one recently, my mixing is not up to par now but it was even worse a year ago LOL), i think the vuleagle theme, and maybe a few others.
reel big fish is one of those bands that i've liked for a long time, and i'm pretty sure that i was first exposed to their stuff from that spazkid animation. i was never a super big newgrounds guy, in all honesty. y'know, i checked stuff out every now and again when i was bored with youtube and whatever shitty game forums i used to lurk, but i never posted anything and wasn't interested in doing so. i got the leftovers of whatever stuff managed to get onto youtube and only checked the actual site when there was an animation that i was interested in that 100% wouldn't fly on youtube. i was never really big on flash games, either. i had a handful that i played endlessly but never really explored much beyond those.
i remember one time, in elementary school, i had two friends over and one of them was outside helping his parents with yardwork - he lived in the house beside me and had only left a few minutes before - and me and my other buddy were scrolling newgrounds looking for funny shit. i guess the long and short of it is that we found a really shitty looking porno game that i can't remember the title of and we both got legit pissed at how stupidly difficult the game was.
anyways, anyways. i don't think that i miss the older internet in the same way that i don't miss the time before video games sucked (recall: video games died after the phantom pain) and i assign that to the ability to simply choose to find things to enjoy in the absolute state of the nets. it's not like everything sucks, even if the greater culture is gay, you can just sever the parts that you don't like entirely from your experience.
the thumbnail art gave me an opportunity to draw pixel gazongas, and i took it, but i didn't do it well. i never learned how to draw anything properly besides hyper-muscular men.
for the record, my favorite rbf album is cheer up
that's the show for today
have a wonderful day, gentlemen. god bless.
