A wild beaver was found on the trail in Columbia Lake Waterloo Ontario Canada. The beaver was running away into the flowing Laurel Creek and hid under the water for a while. Beavers are amphibious with webbed hind feet nostrils and a big flat tail as a rudder. For these reasons, beavers are more at home in the water than on land.
Castor canadensis or North America beavers are natural species in Ontario contributing to active wetlands and watersheds for the habitat of other species. Beavers have a significant impact on biodiversity; for example, the beaver changes the landscape in building dams, cutting down trees and flooding valleys to support the survival of other animals.
