Idun - Frontline Survival, a tower defense RTS game with Mech, Turrets, Heroes & Super weapons!
Idun - Frontline Survival is now out on Steam, with a full single player campaign, which also has a demo available. It is a fun tower defense RTS game that features mechs, movable turrets of many kinds, super weapons, hero characters, upgrades, base management and it has changed my mind about this subgenre of real time strategy games.

So what developers of Idun did differently was to create battles in which you can expand and conquer territory from which you extract the main resources the story revolves about. The battles are also far more dynamic and much shorter making them pump my adrenaline level as if I am in a multiplayer match of some very quick RTS where each bad decision can lead to a defeat.
Lucky if you get overwhelmed there is a pause key. I personally almost never used it unless my kid was trying to climb on my head as I was just engrossed in the mission and trying to keep my characters alive until the timer runs out because the enemies were sure not going to stop coming.
Building on this gameplay basis the developers also allowed for turrets to be completely movable, just by clicking and dropping them to a new location, making better use of maps and multiple paths enemies can attack from. On top of this all they have added heroes and sort of support/super powers. Another way they have tried to change up the dynamics of tower defence missions is to give you a mech suit to control in a very different style of mission, where you push meteors down a hole with the mech while dealing with constant waves of enemies. It's almost like playing meteor size rugby with guns and I love how wild this idea is.
There is also a whole other side to the gameplay with a special pre and post mission layer where you have the full planet shown to you, with locations for missions and here you can choose to replay missions to gain extra rewards you might have missed on your first attempt.
Then you have a base you developed in between these missions, tech research and upgrading of heroes and your equipment
