I'm going to GamesCom 2019!!
24Hey everyone this is Thyworm and today, I want to tell you something. From the title, you might have guessed what this is about. Gamescom, ladies and gentlemen, mostly gentlemen. I’m super excited. In this video, I wanted to tell you how this initiative came to be, I want to tell you what I will be doing at Gamescom, and finally, how my activities are going to help you, the viewers.
About a month ago, Sasha gave me a call, asking me if I would be interested in joining GamesCom. Mad Head Games would be there with their own stand and because I’ve basically been making videos about the game non-stop, and I still am, they would love to have me there as well. We could hang out, I would create some content, basically covering the event, to some extent, and overall it would be super fun to actually meet the developers.
So here’s what I plan to do, at GamesCom.
- Create a lot of content. Just record a bunch of things, get a ton of material so I can give you a good impression of what GamesCom at Mad Head Games was about.
- Conduct a bunch of interviews, hopefully. There are plenty of topics that I would love to get more information on, so hopefully I’ll be able to sit with a few developers from time to time, ask them some questions and get some inside information on the kind of topics that normally aren’t covered all that much. What those topics are, I won’t disclose just yet.
- Stream. There is at least 1 stream planned with the developers, but I might be able to stream more, depending a little bit on the options I have. I won’t be bringing a laptop or anything, because I don’t really have one. We’ll see how this works.
- Some sort of vlog. Thyworm at GamesCom. I’m not really sure how to do this. I don’t really vlog, of course, but this seems like a good opportunity.
- There are also other things planned that I will not spoil now. And there are even things planned by Sasha that involve me, but I don’t know what they are yet. I love those kind of things.
It’s not only about me, it’s also about you. I’ve already mentioned what you’ll get out of it in terms of content, but I also wanted to make you part of the conversations I’ll be having there. How? Well, I thought it would be great of you started to submit your questions. Any questions. Questions I can ask in the interviews, questions I can just go and try to investigate, any questions you might have. Post them on twitter, @Thyworm, or find me on Discord. I will be collecting all your questions and hopefully provide answers as well.
I’m pretty sure, but not 100%, that there will be some giveaways. Think of in-game pets, or other nice things for you to enjoy in-game. Those giveaways might happen during Gamescom, but also afterwards in my regular streams. That’s Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8PM CET on twitch.tv/Thyworm.
Apart from this, there might be other community events as well, that you can participate in, either live at GamesCom or from your own home.
Last but not least, a small disclaimer, mainly for the sake of transparency.
Wargaming is paying for my trip. That means they will provide me with a train ticket, from Amsterdam to Cologne, with a ticket to the event and they also arrange a hotel for me.
In return, obviously, I’m creating content about the game, basically. But as I’ve said before, I’m doing that regardless, because I really enjoy this game and the development process around it, so to have the opportunity to do this at a live conference like GamesCom is to me a unique chance to dive a little deeper into the games business.
