I'm STILL Finding New Stuff I Never Knew Existed in this Game! - NieR: Automata
I know, another canyon run. I guess it shows how much faster I've gotten (and uses the same music from my first ever canyon descent), but I wouldn't have bother recording it if I hadn't found this out. After all these dozens (if not hundreds) of hours, only now did I accidentally do that diagonal meteor slam, because I did an aerial Heavy Attack out of an Evade dash. I had NO Idea that existed.
But now that I think of it, I remember seeing some let's players doing the one where they throw their sword, which was because they'd be spamming the Evade and Light Attack repeatedly. Every time I saw it, I figured it was just part of the normal combo (when 2B/A2 throws her Small Sword), but somehow while moving. But after doing that Evade + aerial Heavy Attack, that's when I tried it with Light Attack and was like "THAT'S the move I kept seeing!"
And that's when I figured it could be done from the ground. I just never thought to attack RIGHT out of an Evade like that, because it seemed like a bad idea. Kinda is, because neither of these attacks are particularly great compared to a standard combo or Light-to-Heavy combo (at least with two Small Swords), but it's just really cool to see that there's even MORE depth to the combat than I thought.
Not the most reliable to pull off. Sometimes I gotta press the Light/Heavy Attack and Evade buttons at the same time, and others it has to be at a distinct time right after the Evade input. Not terribly consistent. Or I guess you could say its consistency IS terrible. Still not bad to try when you're on the move, but I prefer the Small Sword's normal meteor slam, because you throw your sword down first, to stun any enemies below who may be doing an attack.
At least I can use the diagonal meteor slam to soar through the sky...
