Indirect Painting | When is it Not Alla Prima Anymore?
3This video's topic was inspired by me accidentally straying from my usual wet-on-wet alla prima approach and doing some "indirect painting." I didn't intend on it, but I kept returning to a portrait for so many weekends in a row, so it's hard to say it was still wet on wet. In fact in hindsight, towards the end it definitely didn't have the distinctive blending and on-paper mixing that gives it a certain tactile feel. The portrait on screen is my 249th overall and is of a colleague and her husband at their wedding.
