OK, so to start with this is going to look like one of those videos where I'm controlling both cars with one pad, but it is a genuine 2 player game, with 2 human players. So here's what happened...

Whilst I had my friends over awhile back, to help me make some multiplayer Supermodel network videos, I also fired up Model 2 Emulator to get some 2 player footage of a networkable game I'd never actually played in multiplayer before - Indy 500. I uploaded a video of one of the game's we played on it awhile back: https://youtu.be/P6uiYC5MSwA

I'm the Blue car on the right. My mate Mark's the Red car on the left. Now, before this we'd been playing Daytona USA 2 in Supermodel and my mate Mark, who's normally terrible at all games, suddenly started playing well and actually won a couple of the three player games we'd been playing. Flushed with his success in suddenly doing so well in Daytona USA 2 before this, he suddenly returned to his normal, hopeless at racing games form, in Indy 500. This video here was our first time playing and sometime around the 2nd lap he looked over at me and asked,
'I AM the Blue car, right?'
'No mate,' I replied. 'That's me. You're the Red car. The one that's been crashing constantly for the entirety of the race so far...'
'Ahhhh', he replied. 'Yeah, that sounds about right...'
'Yes mate', I replied.

This is another one of those old skool Sega racers that I don't think gets the recognition it deserves. The speed the game goes at is simply incredible, it really puts a lot of 'modern' racers to shame. Drafting other cars is also really important in this game, you can't win the single player race without doing it: https://youtu.be/9Im0TFTuLxA and https://youtu.be/XumijK3jMxg

The network in Indy 500 is incredibly temperamental (something to do with the network latency I believe) and I was never able to get it to link to my second PC (back when I still had a 2nd PC to use as player 2 in LANs). Even in single system link-up it's still very temperamental and will fail right off the bat sometimes, just as it looks like the link has succeeded. One thing I've discovered is that if the control method is set to Xinput in the M2 Emu ini file, the network will seem to fail 100% of the time. Changing it to Dinput seemed to make it more reliable, but God knows why.... Sometimes the games will start, but the network will still fail after a certain amount of time when you're playing.
