Infinite Doom - Part 2.1 (BTSX Episode 1, Final Doomer +, War Trophies, and more)
3I've got Doom on the brain, and I really want to play through these Final Doomer + maps, the ones that inspired the weapon sets. Mostly because I want to see the War Trophies data when all is said and done. Mods on top of mods on top of mods. I love it.
I did what I believe is the first half of BTSX Episode 1. 11 levels down, two mission briefing screens. I am using the original download version of the game, not the version that comes as an add-on to the Unity port. Yea, this one's one of the selected "Official Add-Ons" to the new version of Doom, but they had to alter some things there. That's not an issue if you just want the levels, but I am doing this specifically for the Final Doomer + weapon packs.
So far? Well, the makers of these maps absolutely love their ambushes that surround the player. A bit too much, they happen all the time. It can get a bit annoying. Though they hide the enemy spawns fairly well. There's lots of times I don't hear the awakening sound, or the teleporter, or a door opening, and just turn to find I'm being stalked, or that an Archvile has been busy resurrecting things. Still good maps, but that got old by level 4.
As for the weapons, I much preferred Hellbound's weapon selection. This one doesn't seem to have any hit scanning weapons, it's all projectiles. The weapons also have nice little unique features, like bouncing shots, or an initial more powerful shot. Honestly, I am finding myself swapping weapons a lot, to find the right tool for the job.
