Three and a half months ago, for my 500 subscriber special, I had a poll with a series of questions to help narrow down a collaboratively chosen video game song. The result was rather interesting and unexpected! We got 38 responses on the poll in total. The highest voted game series was the Mario series with 6 votes. The highest voted era was Generation 5 of consoles, with 16 votes, which would be N64, so the game chosen would obviously be Super Mario 64. And finally, the highest voted type of song was actually a tie between an Overworld theme, and an Intro theme, both with 8 votes. So I made the decision of the Overworld theme, because Mario 64 didn't have much of a unique Intro theme. SO HERE WE GO. INSIDE THE CASTLE WALLS FROM SUPER MARIO 64.
This was a rather peculiar cover to make. Around a year and a half ago, I arranged a cover of this song because I was supposed to collab with my friend Dann Link on it. But that got dropped and was never finished. So this was a perfect opportunity to revisit this song. I kept the arrangement fairly similar to the old arrangement, but I added a bunch of new stuff too!
Production-wise, I'm pretty content with this one. In my opinion, everything in this mix is really clear and audible, the bass might be a little loud, but it doesn't really overpower anything else so I think it's fine :P
