This demo has one case to solve and it is a tough one, a rare videogame cartridge was stolen from the shop right after a new security system was installed. You get to investigate and interrogate lots of characters and suspects and in the end you need to draw your conclusions and solve the case. Seems like I solved it but left one mystery uncovered, if you know more, please tell me :)
The really interesting thing about the game is, that is runs on an actual gameboy, of course, not everyone has the option to put data onto a gameboy cartridge and shove that up and actual gameboy, but of course that would work, but these days we have pretty good emulation software for such old hardware systems like the gameboy and you can even play it in an emulator inside your browser, itch even offers that.
You can then see all the small pixels in all their mini glory and hear the 8bit soundtrack, which turned out to be pretty cool. There are minimal animations but I really enjoy the cats wagging their tails and other small additional things, like Waffles having a meowtendo. Uncovering the case is really fun and more and more details face the surface, sometimes the conversation system is not that intuitive to use but you get used to that, there probably even is a button to switch pages in your interrogations, but I probably missed it. I haven't even played the original game but this prequel makes the original inspector waffles even more interesting, maybe you'll see it on this channel in the future :)
