Install SNAPS, FLATPAKS and APPIMAGES - Switcher's guide to elementary OS - part 14
In this one, we'll take a look at how to install snap packages, flatpaks, and appimages on elementary OS. All these methods should work on Ubuntu as well !
We'll start with flatpaks, which are the hottest new app install method. More than 300 apps are already available from Flathub, and it's a great way to get the newest software without any risk to your system.
Snap packages are next. They're basically the same principle as flatpaks, but with a centralized store.
Finally, AppImages are a great way to run programs without using PPAs, or having to risk updating your system's libraries.
Adding the PPA for Flatpaks:
sudo apt install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexlarsson/flatpak
sudo apt update
sudo apt install flatpak
