Ehrlich’s gloom-and-doom forecasts were wildly overstated, ignoring humanity’s ability to adapt and get creative. Malcolm Caldwell
Caldwell was one of the most vocal Western defenders of Pol Pot’s regime, dismissing reports of genocide and lauding forced evacuations. Ironically, he was murdered in Cambodia—reportedly by his own ideological idols—during a tightly controlled visit.

Paul R. Ehrlich
In The Population Bomb (1968), Ehrlich predicted global catastrophes—including mass starvation in the 1970s—that never came to pass. Critics note his failure to acknowledge errors, and his proposed solutions—like coercive sterilization and punitive taxes—were extreme and ethically questionable. Despite doubling global population, famine rates dropped remarkably, showcasing human innovation's power to defy doomsday models.
