I'm really glad I came across this recommended to me on YouTube. The fact this game of this caliber is built on the Roblox engine and is free is completely nuts to me.
It's clear that this game takes inspiration from the modern "Modern Warfare" series. Fortunately however, you don't need massive storage space to install and ridiculous hardware to run it. On top of that, progression seems pretty balanced and does not rely on P2W elements from what I can see. I've fared pretty well with standard equipment as shown in the video.
Not to mention how smooth the performance and gameplay is, no stutters or DPI issues that I sometimes experience in other Roblox FPSs. I've played a handful of shooters like Phantom Forces, Pistols 1v1 and Arsenal but they have nothing on what Frontlines has to offer. I am definitely going to stick around for this one.
Gameplay is what you would expect out of a first person shooter. Team based gamemodes where people shoot each other, dominate objectives and win. Simple on paper but a lot of engagement and enjoyment through execution. The grind for levelling up and unlocking gear does seem a bit steep but that shouldn't be too much of a concern if time flies while having fun.
As the game grows, undoubtedly hiccups will occur as everyone will have a different reaction/experience to the game. So far, I haven't come across cheaters or really bad latency but I'm sure it's an inevitable issue to address. Thankfully, from how committed the developers invested in the value of the "game" as opposed to the "business", I have high hopes.
Seeing games like this makes me happy to see the potential in Roblox's evolvement. Transparent developers, a love for their craft, no ridiculous tropes like SBMM or expensive "battlepasses", just a bunch of positives and very few negatives. I'm curious to see how the game will grow from here on out.
