Yeah, it's Slenderman. If you know, you know.

Story is pretty basic. You visit a vacant home in the woods and chill, you investigate a strange noise soon after, Slenderman annoys you and pandemonium ensues. Although this isn't revolutionary or paced out with more immersive elements like in Slender: The Arrival, I do appreciate that the longevity of simple tasks of escaping Slenderman's imprisonment of you in the woods allows for more "depth" of the gameplay, as opposed to the classic "collect all 8 pages while avoiding Slendie's increased aggression". Having moments to collect yourself and get a feel of different environments either being there as filler or as places Cody was previously at is a nice touch too.

Gameplay is similar to the item hunt experience in the OG game but not as repetitive or demanding thankfully. New areas to explore and paths to take provide more interaction with the game while engaging in the traditional formula that Slenderman provides.

I'm really glad that both the distance to run and stamina usage are not as restrictive here as in the OG game. That got tedious really quick and not everyone is out of shape, especially when you factor in flight or flight logic.

It's pretty neat to see that this game is built upon a retro game engine, most notably known for Duke Nukem 3D. Most of the time it'd be something like Unreal Engine or Unity or a few instances Godot, never EDuke32. Might not be the craziest thing to point out but it's an interesting tidbit, nice to see variety in engines normally not used for a genre like this.

Not really much more to say about this game. It may look basic but it makes for a pleasant experience; a blast from the past with gimmicks done a bit better than predecessors. A half hour session of da spooky is oke doke to me.
