Interacting with Interaction Entities - Talon's Oasis - Ep 101
15It's time to try out the new interaction entities! They have a ton of potential uses, but the one I'm the most excited by is integrating them with the holographic display that shows what items are in the chests. We'll also do a little attempt at a command block sorter, and spend some time figuring out how the interaction entities work.
Extra Stuff:
- I shortened the storage sort section quite a bit since nothing worked quite right, but I did try quite a few thing including using the bundle since it doesn't save slot numbers. Unfortunately, everything broke as soon as it hit the chest without a slot tag. Kind of a bummer.
- Quarternions. That's what the block entities used to rotate around. It's four separate numbers (the first is the angle I believe and the rest are x, y, and z). But what was tricky was the origin did not appear to be in the middle of the block like with the item display, so any rotation needed a translation to correct its offset, and after I spent an hour setting up the one chest (and it was still a bit off), I decided to move on to the holodisplay interaction.
- The lag on the holodisplay has to do with that armor stand you saw running back and forth over the chests in the back. There's actually a parallel one running over the item displays, which is how the system syncs the two. But for the interaction to work it has to wait for the armor stand to pass over the interacted entity to run all the relevant commands, which is where the lag time comes from. It also means the larger the system gets, the larger the delay will become, which I think is a cool tradeoff for the storage system.
Command Block Survival is a gamemode where every command has a self-imposed price. It allows crafting of certain creative mode items (the recipe is part of the price) and adds an entirely new dimension of creativity!
