SUMMARY

Arienne Keith represents a type of gamer who work for a living (often long days) and then come home and use games to wind down. Online games such as Team Fortress 2 provide a quick-and-easy way to wind down at the end of the day; especially those that include easy matchmaking systems to throw players into ad hoc battles. TF2 in particular is a player-vs-player (PvP) game that involves matches between players with a set number of classes.

The recent Mann-vs-Machine addition to TF2 also adds servers that enable co-op play (or PvE) where players must engage metal-machine versions of the classes that they play. The classes in TF2 are strictly held to particular mechanics and weapons and thus fall into particular roles and play styles; this is why Keith in the interview speaks about playing the role called the "Pyro."

The Pyro is a short-range attacker who uses a flame thrower to weaken enemies. Enemies hit by the Pyro's flame thrower take minimal damage but it builds up quickly; afflicted foes continue burning (on fire) even if they run out of range once they're struck. Pyros also have a secondary weapon with a slow reload but a high damage for slightly more distance but their primary mode of engagement is the flame thrower.
