Thank you for watching Episode 1 of my 100% Into the Breach Playthrough on Hard Difficulty! Into the Breach is the indie XCOM I always wanted to play. The Rift Walkers (Combat Mech, Cannon Mech, Artillery Mech) teach us the basics of this indie XCOM played on a chessboard with water and mountains. You can call it rogue-like chess in pixel art, but randomization is kept at a minimum with telegraphed enemy attacks opening the way to brilliant turn-based tactics. In the end it is more a minimalistic puzzle game than 4D chess or XCOM with Mechs and Kaijus (VEK), made by the FTL devs Subset Games (Justin Ma and Matthew Davis).
"The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Each attempt to save the world presents a new randomly generated challenge in this turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL."
