Intro to Skyrim - THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM - Special Edition & Anniversary Edition - Playtesting.
I'm redying The Elder Scrolls V: SKYRIM for modding by playing through the intro for the like 5th time now, I had originally played the same prologue to the story on a PlayStation 3 like back in 2015 or so, but back then I played the original game from 2011 - now I'm playing the Special Edition for the computer/PC that I bought in 2022, which is a remastered release of the game released in 2016, and which adds better textures/graphics, more features and improvements as compared to the 2011 original - then today I also bought the Anniversary Edition update which is a DLC for the Special Edition released in 2021. During the prelude to the story I'm actually running the latest official build which is the version I just mentioned, but after exiting the cave and reacing the Skyrim outerior I'm actually using an older video file with a similar character and playing on the Special Edition instead.
Skyrim is the 5th game in the Elder Scrolls series, and I've played a bit out of Morrowind in the past which is the 3rd game from the year 2002 I believe - the game is a role-playing-game by Bethesda and has an open world.
I've been downloading a huge package of over 500 mods this entire morning and this was after first spending the entire day yesterday manually downloading mods but failing to get them to work inside the game - despite utilising the VORTEX Mod Launcher. Now, after following a video I've found an easier method to get even more mods. So I will be playing Skyrim going forward.
Compared to Morrowind (the third game) the graphics are obviously much better, the characters speak all the time and not just s few times like in Morrowind, the animations and facial expressions are much better, as they now do move their mouths- something they didn't do in the third game - and the best thing of all is that the battle-system is a million times better. What's similar is the 1st person view that you can switch into a 3rd person view- but the main difference is the battle-system where it's now more action-focused and isn't based on odd numbers like the third game. In the Third game it seemed no matter your level you could be killed by anyone based on a very odd system. In the 5th game you actually feel like it's based on your skills with the character, instead of luck.
Of course there are a million gameplay-enhancement mods, graphical-enhancement mods, fixes, new locations and what-not - all that will be in the next video. I also wanted some new followers but they probably won't be compatible with all the mods I will be using unless they're included already, which would be a shame as there are many hot female companions for Skyrim. But it's difficult to get them to work with other mods, or even show up - at least I failed when I tried it manually.
At first I didn't even know that there were a Remastered version of Skyrim and wasted a night installing mods for the old title on the Remaster, which didn't work - but then I tried the Special Edition mods manually and still didn't succeed - only the graphical enhancement mods seemed to work.
Now hopefully everything will work as I'm getting a package that installs automatically instead. I've read that the "Anniversary Edition" of the game has gotten awful reviews for selling mod-content that was already free. I bought it because it was needed for the mod-compilation package to function I think. I also paid for a monthly subscription over on Netflix to install the modding package seemlessly, because otherwise it was impossible with the constant pop-ups with each mod and it would ask you to micro-manage all the options for every single mod - instead with the giant package of over 500 mods it's better to pay 7 dollars and get it all done without any trouble or micro-managing of individual mods.
