The End of Time - Chrono Trigger - Walkthrought Part #03 (STEAM/PC) - HD Resolution
In this 3rd part playing the PC/STEAM release of the game, I'm playing from the end of part 2 and will complete the area where Robots are facilitated known as the Derelict Facility, then move on into the "End of Time" area where you finally get the option to chose portals of time that will take you to different locations in the game for different missions - these can be completed in any order the player choses. I'm visiting the fiend-town of Medina with friendly fiends and defeating a boss there, I'm also returning to the 600 AD timeline and helping the Kingdom of Guardia and its knights to retake the bridge from Fiends and their undead hordes- including the giant undead monstrosity Zombord, then I'll make small visits into new areas and will defeat the twins Masa and Mune who can fusion into a giant monster named Masamune - after who's defeat the broken Legendary Sword of Masamune is ours - but only a sworn hero can use it. Robo is a new party member at the facility, but the rest of the video will be Chrono, Lucca and Marble.
I'm playing Chrono Trigger for the first time on PC/STEAM, a release of the game that I bought in 2022, the original game being released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES/Super Famicom in 1995, this is the computer release from way later.
I had tried out the game on a SNES emulator many years ago but didn't play much of it. I do recall enjoying the battles back then, and this seems to still hold true - I have never played as far as I do in this video prior to this video and had only tried out the game in the past.
The STEAM/PC version of the game has the best looking cinematics/anime cutscenes, has better looking sprites in the battles but I don't know if it's better than the modded SNES release.
I've played a modiefied SNES release after this video was recorded and I played for a bit longer there. The menu is very different, the sprites look a bit older there despite me using the "classic" graphics here, which is an option.
I haven't bothered to mod the game.
The game itself has beautiful art by Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball Z), has an awesome story, awesome music, good looking cinematics in the PC-release, and I enjoyed the story so far and the characters.
It's a Japanese-Role-Playing-Game by Square and is simiilar to the Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy games but with its own unique gameplay. It has very unique battles and gameplay mechanics. It's almost like an anime in game-form.
I'm certainly gonna finish this game but I'm not certain on what system.
Unlike the sequel Chrono Cross for the PS1 this game doesn't have any 3D graphics and is entirely in 2D - it also has a more interesting story that doesn't feel as childish - unlike the sequel which felt a bit childish when I played it for an hour. Chrono Trigger has a much more interesting story for me as a 30+ year-old man who has never played Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross as a kid.
