A Vanished Princess - Chrono Trigger - Walkthrought Part #01 (STEAM/PC)
I'm playing Chrono Trigger for the first time on PC/STEAM, a release of the game that I bought in 2022, the original game being released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES/Super Famicom in 1995, this is the computer release from way later.
I had tried out the game on a SNES emulator many years ago but didn't play much of it. I do recall enjoying the battles back then, and this seems to still hold true - I have never played as far as I do in this video prior to this video and had only tried out the game in the past.
The STEAM/PC version of the game has the best looking cinematics/anime cutscenes, has better looking sprites in the battles but I don't know if it's better than the modded SNES release.
I've played a modiefied SNES release after this video was recorded and I played for a bit longer there. The menu is very different, the sprites look a bit older there despite me using the "classic" graphics here, which is an option.
I haven't bothered to mod the game.
The game itself has beautiful art by Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball Z), has an awesome story, awesome music, good looking cinematics in the PC-release, and I enjoyed the story so far and the characters.
It's a Japanese-Role-Playing-Game by Square and is simiilar to the Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy games but with its own unique gameplay. It has very unique battles and gameplay mechanics. It's almost like an anime in game-form.
I'm certainly gonna finish this game but I'm not certain on what system.
Unlike the sequel Chrono Cross for the PS1 this game doesn't have any 3D graphics and is entirely in 2D - it also has a more interesting story that doesn't feel as childish - unlike the sequel which felt a bit childish when I played it for an hour. Chrono Trigger has a much more interesting story for me as a 30+ year-old man who has never played Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross as a kid.
