Invader's Revenge Longplay (Arcade Game)

I've often pondered whether the title "Invader's Revenge" implies a cosmic comeback, heralding "the Return of the Space Invaders," or if the developers simply sought to test the mettle of us lazy early '80s gamers with an astronomically challenging and maddening space shooter.
Jokes aside, Invader's Revenge stands out as an unusual release for various reasons. Beyond its formidable difficulty, what perplexes me even more is that, personally, I find the early stages—specifically from 2 to 4—more daunting than the concluding ones.
After the mind-bending fourth stage, where the aliens inexplicably shrink, it becomes relatively smooth sailing for me; the enemies follow predictable patterns and pose less of a challenge. However, the ship-docking stage (the final one to complete a loop) remains quite exasperating. While mastering the art of dodging the green squares improves matters, perfect timing is imperative to avoid self-inflicted ship destruction.
I must admit, I have a soft spot for this space shooter, but at the same time, I can't deny its propensity to elicit disdain. Enemies shoot both vertically and diagonally, with missiles that seem eerily guided; they randomly embark on kamikaze descents when shot; they attempt to siphon fuel — if they succeed, it's game over — and once successful, they carry it to the mothership at the screen's summit, triggering the behemoth to unleash a merciless barrage, thankfully just for a fleeting few seconds.
And let's not forget the looming bombs (resembling comets) descending sporadically; they not only pose a mortal threat but also deplete your fuel if not obliterated before contact with the gauge.
Oh, and there's more! Remember the mothership at the top of the screen? Turns out you must dock with it once every stage is cleared. However, for some perplexing reason, it transforms from blue to yellow in the interim. Surprising? Bizarre? Confusing? Well, you name it...
Again, not a bad game by any means, but it can be immensely frustrating. I distinctly recall witnessing some choice blows directed at the machine by irate gamers at my local arcade, lol.
