I've been hoping for Yae to make an appearance in Liyue since the Inazuma Archon Quest. I imagine her reunion with Zhongli will be loretastic. But it's also probably for that exact reason that we won't get it for a while.
So I guess this could count as the next best thing lol. There's not a single new character for this one so there's also not much for me to bring up. Ningguang used to be a popular DPS character but not only is Geo not the best element, now we even have Navia who far outpaces her damage especially since she works off of Crystallize, the first Geo character to do so. Xinyan is a character I absolutely love but sadly she's not a good character to play lol. Personally I don't like any claymore playstyles. Yaoyao followed the new Dendro element release strategy. Basically all Dendro does is work as a Support for Hyperbloom. The first few we got were bad at actually applying Dendro but then all of the rest were better including Yaoyao. And because of that all she's good for is her healing skill. Her Burst also heals but you have to keep her on the field and she can't really do damage compared to say Alhaitham who released with her.
I think people have been growing more and more aware of Xiao's issues. Especially since I play on mobile in a country with garbage mobile internet it is very difficult to do Plunge Attacks on command. Half the time I end up jumping only half the amount I'm supposed to get from the enhancement and then it's not enough to trigger a Plunge so I'll be mashing the attack button only to watch Xiao slowly glide down to the ground. On the flip side you have Yae who people have grown aware of how good she is. When she released people rolled their eyes and whined as they do. But now? Her short cooldown means you can spam her heavy hitting skill. Her Burst is just extra damage on top so feel free to spam it whenever it's up but you never have to focus on getting it. As an Electro Character she's capable of Hyperbloom so pair her with any Dendro character and watch her damage soar. Or don't. I pair her with Furina these days and just Electro-Charged does a fantastic job. Yae replaced Ganyu on my team and while Ganyu is still better for exploration as an archer I can't really justify not keeping Yae on the team she's just that good.
You know I'm usually the guy that goes "pull for whoever you like" but just like with Zhongli I would recommend Yae to anybody. These Archons are incredibly powerful and will carry you through just about anything.
