Hello, everyone! Almost a year ago, I faced off against Sans for the first time. Yes, it was back in May last year when I first played and streamed Undertale. Like any player would, I started with the Neutral route, then the Pacifist, and being an average challenge enjoyer, I decided to go for the Genocide route, not really knowing what to expect. It was a stream to remember, a nearly 12-hour journey filled with highs and lows. After cold-bloodedly dispatching everything in my path for five straight hours, I finally reached Sans, and let me tell you, it was bone-chilling. In all honesty, it just didn't make any sense. Despite battling him for a grueling six hours, I eventually went to bed defeated. The chat kept telling me to sleep on it within the first couple of hours into the fight, assuring me that victory would be within my grasp the next day. But of course, being overly-stubborn in the bones, I didn't listen to their advice and continued the fight until I was nearly nodding off in my chair, to no avail. After a good night's sleep—though I can't say it was peaceful, as I couldn't shake Sans out of my head—I took a short walk to clear my mind before returning to the stream. This time, the battle lasted only about an hour, and Sans was finally triumphantly defeated. It was beautiful!
Surely one could say I was tired by the time I got to Sans, or that I lacked the necessary resources to face Sans head-on. Perhaps if I had heeded the advice of the chat and taken a break sooner, I could have emerged victorious more swiftly. But those are just excuses. Regardless of the time spent fighting this boney fella, it doesn't change the fact: Sans is one of the best fights ever made in a video game. My name is Eugene and today I'm going to tell you why.
