In Final Fantasy IV for the Super Famicom (also known as Final Fantasy II for the SNES) there's a way to underflow an inventory slot so that the game thinks you have 65,536 of an item in that slot. Then you can sell that item slot for an absurd amount of GP (also known as money).

The first step is to make sure you have two side-by-side open slots in your inventory. Then, initiate a battle.

Once in battle, open up your items menu. Select the open slot on the right side, then exchange it with a weapon or shield that your character has equipped. Then, select the equipment in that same character's other hand and place it in the same open slot on the right side. In this example, I selected the open inventory slot on the right side and swapped it with Kain's Spear. Then, I selected his Iron Shield and swapped it with THE SAME OPEN SLOT on the right side of my inventory.

After the battle ends, open up your menu and select Equip, then select the character whose items you were arranging. You will notice a seemingly random number next to one of that character's hand slots. In this example, I was using Kain, so I selected Equip, then Kain. The game displayed the number 5 next to his Right Hand.

Now, equip the item you placed into the empty rightside inventory slot, then unequip it. In this example, I equipped the Iron Shield back onto Kain's Right Hand (the one with the 5 on it) and then unequipped it.

:Lastly, sell the empty item slot on the right side of your inventory. In this example, I sold the empty inventory slot on the right side, which was next to Kain's Spear.

If done correctly, the game will think that you have 65,536 of an item in that inventory slot, so you can sell it for an absurd amount of money. In this example, the game thought I had 65,536 Iron shields, and I sold them for 3,276,800 GP.
