It’s the end of the world in Britain and I feel splendid / Lets Play Obscured by Clouds
7This little visual novel was developed by Frosty Rock Games and has the shittiest itch page but actually plays well and is interesting. It’s set in a somewhat fictional Britain in 1971 with the Cold War between Russia and America (basically) heating up. Our protagonist (and naive summer child) Dennis has to maneuver through the daily grind, family issues and maybe a worldwide extinction event.
It’s so weird, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, story and pacing of this but some things felt really weird, like the celebrity stand-ins for characters (was it supposed to be funny? I don’t know, in combination with the threat of nuclear war and some other topics it didn’t feel quite right). It’s one of those gaming experiences that despite being utterly weird are still fun enough that I can’t even say that they’re not successful in whatever they tried to do.
