In Sjoerd Hekking’s newest game “Death’s Gambit” we play a card game with death? the void? Ourselves? as a last attempt to turn our luck around and right a horrible wrong. What follows is an interactive fiction short that tells a spooky story but also muses about the choices we make and how we can live with them.

I loved this. Sjoerd is one heck of a writer and got some great support from Eli (who provides gorgeous artwork: https://addictivities.tumblr.com/) and The Miracle Forest (atmospheric audio and music: https://www.youtube.com/user/themiracleforest). I especially love the mix of existential contemplation mixed with some creepy lore. I also need to get back to see what other endings the game has to offer because I am quite sure it has some more secrets to uncover.
