Jagex Launcher can launch silently to the system tray, auto-launch OSRS (any supported client and even RS), and be limited to a single process with no background GPU usage. And when restored from the system tray, closing Jagex Launcher actually closes it without putting it back to the tray. Basically Jagex Launcher is reduced to a minimal footprint!

This is accomplished by some launch arguments: --disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer --single-process --launch=osrs --silent

These disable GPU usage for Jagex Launcher: --disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer

This limits the Jagex Launcher browser process to a single process: --single-process

This launches OSRS immediately without needing to press Play: --launch=osrs

And finally, this launches Jagex Launcher silently in the taskbar without the Checking for Updates splash or showing the OSRS/RS page: --silent

The complete launch command on 64-bit Windows with Jagex Launcher in the default install location is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Jagex Launcher\JagexLauncher.exe" --disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer --single-process --launch=osrs --silent

When OSRS is auto-launched, it uses the last-used client. I've tested Official C++ and Legacy Java clients, and theoretically RuneLite and HDOS should work fine too.

I use the Legacy Java client today in 2024 because everything is brighter on the C++ client: https://realmofespionage.blogspot.com/2024/05/old-school-runescape-legacy-java-client.html

--launch=osrs can also be changed to something for RuneScape instead (I think just runescape but need to retest later).
