Jak II - Methods to beat "Seal Piece at Water Slums" (No Damage)
This mission is often said by some to be the hardest mission in the whole game if someone doesn’t bring up the "Destroy Ship at Drill Platform" mission, which I don’t think is that hard personally speaking, same with this mission, in fact I actually like this mission as it’s a good test of your skills up to this point of the game. One thing to know is that Krimson Guards except for the yellow armored ones that show up in Act 3 after beating Mar's Tomb go down in two hits so it doesn’t hurt to melee any close by if you want to conserve ammo.
The Vulcan Fury’s a mid-range weapon that is great for stunning large groups of enemies, so this mission is perfect for using this weapon, sometimes the Vulcan and Blaster can be used interchangeably but for guards in large crowds the Vulcan is great. Hold down the punch-button to extend the reach of your punch, very helpful for melee in general and it acts as a good dodge to get some space away from your foes. I recommend starting off with the Scatter Gun at first to potentially knock the guards into the water and it's great for anything in front of you due to the large cone-blast.
One word of advice I have is to keep an eye on your mini-map every so-often to keep track of the Krimson Guards ganging up on you that way you’ll know where to shoot if the bullets shooting your way don’t clue you in on their positions (they almost always fire twice before they hit you with a third or fourth if they’re close enough).
If you’re having trouble playing this mission normally, then there’s a few tricks to make this mission super easy. Which method you choose to make the mission shorter or if you want a challenge is up to you:
Extended Punch Method:
This method is the safest, easiest and simplest to pull off, hold the Punch button to extend your punch and repeatedly do it to punch through all the Krimson Guards and completely bypass the lock-on from the Air Trains because of the way they're programmed; they won't shoot you if you move past them fast enough.
JET-Board Method:
This is more for style points to be honest, but it works similarly to the Extended Punch Method except with the risk of running into one of the Krimson Guards while riding the JET-Board due to contact damage, if you extend your punch and ride your JET-Board the moment before the animation finishes you'll start off faster on the JET-Board as if you did the 360 trick for a speed boost. I find that if you do little hops after getting a burst of speed that you maintain your speed a little bit on the JET-Board from my experience.
Dark Bomb Method:
You'll need to unlock the Dark Bomb from the Oracle who happens to be in the Water Slums, this is the first upgrade you receive for Dark Jak, needing only 25 Skull Gems to obtain it. A drone that normally spawns in the deep waters outside Haven City spawns in the water in this mission the second you enter the water whether you try to swim or use the JET-Board on it, if this happens it kills you, however there's a glitch where doing the Dark Bomb in the water permanently destroys the drone for this particular mission, doing so allows you to go through the water unopposed but is wasteful of an area clearing nuke ability that you could use later, then again your Morph Gun is more useful than Dark Jak for versatility alone and ammo is plentiful in this game.
