Jay Leno receives a standing ovation after being released from the burn hospital
0On Sunday night, the comic returned to the stage at the Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California. The 72-year-old came back for his customary Sunday evening show just six days after being released from the Grossman Burn Center owing to second and third-degree burns sustained while working on a steam vehicle in his own garage.
The former "Tonight Show" host quickly acknowledged the event before continuing with his show.
Jay has been performing at the club nearly every week since 1992, when he became host of "The Tonight Show," but this is one of the few occasions he has earned a standing ovation, according to one of the venue's workers.
At the time, his staff told Access Hollywood how appreciative he is to the Grossman Burn Center team and how excited he is to return home.
“He would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes,” his representative told Access. “He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday.”
