I had been avoiding fighting Anjanath for a while, figuring it would be able to one-shot me pretty easily without some hefty armor upgrades and that it would perhaps be Deviljho-lite. Turns out it wasn't that bad. It did end up carting me with more or less a one-shot earlier, but I was being super sloppy so I'm not so worried about future encounters. Not gonna fight the pair anytime soon, though.

Spent much of the rest of the session doing some expedition stuff to collect extra materials and get more familiar with some of the new/changed systems in world. I'm really stating to enjoy the slinger now that I'm paying more attention to it, especially the extra effects like washing off the mud from a Barroth using Puddle Pods.

Also, I'm glad the game's starting to back off with the tutorial prompts a bit - now there's just subtle indicators for what's going on when you mount a monster that I much prefer that - makes it easier to learn instead of just focusing on the prompt.
