4While Rise is already out, I haven't even properly started my playthrough of Monster Hunter World and I've been meaning to do that for years! I actually did play a bit around the initial release of the PC port, but I dove head-first into multiplayer and I think it's possible that MP in most PvE games just isn't for me --- at least outside of playing with a few specific streamers who play at the same pace I do. I play at too slow and distracted a pace and I tend to be interested in checking out cool scenes, picking up random materials, etc. instead of just rapid fire grinding monsters. Plus, in spending most of my time chasing other players only to reach a nearly-dead monster, there was no time to learn how to fight any of the new monsters, so now I'm effectively learning their patterns from scratch.
I played a good few hundred hours of Monster Hunter Portable 2g (and later converted my save to Freedom Unite) back in the day, and a little bit of Tri when that was first released as well (though in that case, while I liked the technical improvements, the monster variety and lack of interesting returning monsters was a bit of a disappointment).
So while I have some prior Monster Hunter experience, I've got a ton of de-rusting to do, as well as getting familiar with years upon years of changes and the huge quality of life improvements featured in World.
