Taking some time to check out Prime 2D, a Metroid fan game that pays homage to the first of Retro's Metroid Prime series. The game shows promise - it looks great and generally plays pretty well (though I certainly would like controller support for a game like this). The extra frames of animation for the front and back facing direction changes was a really nice touch.

It seems premature to release anything for the game until they reach 1.0 considering how quickly Nintendo tends to send cease and desist notices, but I'll certainly be looking forward to playing the full version of Prime 2D if they manage to make it that far. If not, they've certainly shown some talent and I'd hope they can find future work in the game industry.
